Shih Jung (Kay) Feng was born on May 11, 1933 in Kiangsu Province in mainland China. When she was 14, her parents sent her to a Catholic school in Xuzhou, where she decided to become a Catholic. Loving the martyrdom story of Saint Lucy, she chose Lucy as her baptismal name. In 1949, her family moved to Taiwan to escape the Communist regime. She went to Teacher’s College in Taichung and began teaching at the age of 21. She taught k-12 until she retired as a teacher in 1997.  She met Yun-Ping Wang and they got married in Taipei. They have two daughters, Chuan-Chih and Chuan-Lan.

Kay had a passion for study and was always learning new things. She picked up ancient Chinese calligraphy after her retirement and became very proficient in Cao Shu (Cursive Script) and later in Shou Jin Ti (Slender Gold Script). Kay was fond of sewing, traveling, reading and cooking. Her travels took her to Holy Land and many pilgrimage sites in Europe. A devoted and loving wife and mother, Kay was a very creative cook of Chinese cuisine.  Her students remember her as strict but always approachable. She was a daily communicant and became a member of the Legion of Mary in 2003. She enjoyed spending time in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and her favorite prayers for meditation are the Mysteries of the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Kay is survived by her loving husband, Yun-Ping (Peter)Wang of Taipei, Taiwan; her children: Chuan-Chih (Chiara) (Don Lipp) of Aberdeen, S.D., and Chuan-Lan (Shih-Yang Wu) of Taipei, Taiwan. Kay is preceded in death by her faithful parents.

Kay’s family would like to thank all priests in Aberdeen, Dr. Wachs, Dr. Gina Rekow, Tammy Artz, Janet Wipf, and all the volunteers and home care ladies who joyfully took care of her in the last months of Kay’s life. May God reward you!
