Sheryl Ann was born on December 30, 1949, in Aberdeen, SD, to William and Evelyn (Wanttie) Raymond. She attended Central High School and graduated in 1968. She went on to attend Presentation College to study accounting, but decided it wasn’t for her, and pursued other interests. She had played softball in high school and continued to do so in her adulthood, and she later took up bowling. Sheryl went on to become the South Dakota Bowling Queen. She obtained various trophies and awards while playing. Sheryl also ran a grocery store as an assistant manager for many years. Her true passion was cooking. She worked at the Virginia Café, running it for many years, and later cooked at the South Dakota Developmental Center. Sheryl also spent some time working at Dakota Quilting and Synergy, before retiring -- although she continued to cook for fun.

On March 25, 1983, she married Valdemar Jacobson in New Castle, Wyoming, gaining four stepdaughters and later one daughter of their own. They made their home in Redfield, SD, for many years. Valdemar passed away in 2004, and Sheryl continued to make Redfield her home.

Sheryl was a loving, thoughtful, genuinely happy person. She was an avid football fan, and the only time she wasn’t happy was when the Vikings were losing. This was also the only time she ever swore! Most importantly, Sheryl loved spending time with her family and had a very special bond with her grandchildren. She loved playing with and entertaining them.

Sheryl always loved to entertain and would come up with games and activities for every family get-together. She always thought of others and ways to make them happy or feel included. Sheryl loved to decorate (and had decorations) for every holiday, even the smaller ones like the Super Bowl, as she considered that a holiday. She especially loved to play cards and dice, and could count dice better than anyone! She loved to smile, laugh, and tell jokes, even dirty ones! She was a very special lady and will be greatly missed by her family.

Grateful for having shared Sheryl’s life are her daughter, Megan (David) Bixler of Hitchcock, SD, and their children Gracyn, Tess, David, Brady, Trava, Griffin, Sylvie, and Gabe; stepdaughters: Stephanie Jacobson, Kristie (Jeremiah) Jacobson of Aberdeen, SD, and their children Kelby and Benji, son-in-law, Paul Holt and his children Jordan Holt, Haley (Doug) McCambridge, and Jacob Holt all of Rapid, SD; great-grandchildren Ellis and Charlie Holt, and Winnie McCambridge; her mother, Evelyn Raymond of Aberdeen, SD; brothers, John Kennedy of Aberdeen, SD, and Roger Raymond of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters Mary Raymond of Aberdeen, SD, and Diane Sanders of Watertown, SD; sister-in-law Jeanette Kline of Aberdeen, SD; brother-in-law Ron Jacobson of Aberdeen, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Valdemar Jacobson; father, William Raymond; stepdaughters Rebecca Jacobson and Stacy Holt; grandson Gabriel Jacobson; brothers Frank Raymond, Daryl Raymond, and Chuck Raymond; and sisters Geneva Hagen and Laura Jacobs.
