Sheila Kay (Wolf) Silvernail, 76, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on August 7, 2026.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with Avera Chaplain Tina Opdahl officiating.

Visitation will be one hour before the service.

A time for fellowship and a luncheon will immediately follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Sheila Wolf was born on September 20, 1949, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Michael and Matilda (Kocher) Wolf. She was a member of the first graduating class of Roncalli High School, where she met the love of her life and her best friend, Dave Silvernail.

Sheila went on to earn her nursing degree from the Pierre School of Nursing. On June 5, 1971, she and Dave were married at Andrews Air Force Base, Laurel, Maryland. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Adak, Alaska, where they lived for two years and welcomed their oldest son, Jason. They eventually returned to Aberdeen, where they built their life together and welcomed two more sons, Carter and Nathan.

Sheila dedicated nearly 40 years of her life to nursing, working in nursing homes and medical clinics throughout Aberdeen. Caring for people was at the very heart of who Sheila was. She had a gift for making people feel cared for, and that same caring spirit was at the center of everything she did for her family.

Sheila loved her family with everything she had. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 55 years, Dave; her sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Sarah, Carter and Sara, and Nathan and Melissa; and her ten grandchildren, Ella, Ava, Taylor, Kalli, Fletcher, Bergan, Torsten, Eleanor, Louisa, and Henry.

Her grandchildren were the absolute joy of her life. Sheila loved being a mom and grandmother and attended any event that included her children or grandchildren. Whether it was a school activity, sporting event, celebration, or simply time together, Sheila wanted to be there. She was their biggest supporter and loved watching them grow.

Sheila also treasured the friendships she made throughout her life, especially her girlfriends from Roncalli. She loved spending time outdoors and could often be found tending to her many plants or investigating every tree around her. She had a wonderful curiosity about nature and found happiness in the simple beauty of the world.

Sheila shared a beautiful relationship with her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She was the caretaker of the family, never missing a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion. She remembered the important dates, checked in on the people she loved, and made sure everyone knew they mattered.

We will miss seeing her at our events, hearing her voice on the phone, watching her fuss over her plants, and knowing that she was keeping track of all of us and making sure everyone was okay.

Most of all, we will miss being loved by her.

She gave us a lifetime of love, and that love does not end with her passing. It lives on in every story we tell, every family gathering we cherish, every birthday we remember, every tree we stop to admire, and in the ten grandchildren who carry a piece of her forward.

We were so lucky to have her. She was our steady place, our caretaker, our biggest cheerleader, and the heart of our family.

We love you, Mom. We love you, Grandma. We love you, Sheila. We will carry you with us always.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Matilda Wolf, and her brother, David.
