Obituary

Sharon Schumacher, 82, of Brandon, SD, formerly of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Centerville Care Center in Centerville, SD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen.

Interment will follow the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

A time for fellowship and lunch will be at the parish hall after the interment.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, at Schriver's Memorial Chapel, with a liturgical wake and rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before the service.

Sharon Marie Schumacher was born on May 12, 1943, in Sacramento, California, to James and Ina Mae (Skoglund) Torigian. Sharon received her education in Aberdeen, SD, attending Lincoln Elementary, Simmons Junior High, and graduating from Aberdeen Central High School.

Sharon was united in marriage to Eugene Schumacher on October 6, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen. They were married for 64 years. Sharon and Eugene were blessed with two sons: Scott and Christopher.

Over the years, Sharon worked at A&W, Capitol Theater, Bostwicks, and both the Huron and Aberdeen school districts.

Sharon’s warm personality led her to many lifelong friendships. She had a special relationship with her four grandchildren. Sharon especially cherished spending time with her family; she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Grateful for having shared Sharon’s life are her husband Gene Schumacher; son, Scott (Sheila) Schumacher; daughter in-law, Carol Schumacher; four grandchildren: Elizabeth (Tristan) Love, Peter Schumacher, Erica (Aaron) Gaspar, Carley (Taylor) Schulte; three great grandchildren, Briggs and Lakyn Gaspar and Sophia Schulte; brothers Bob (Susan) Torigian, Joel (Diane) Torigian; and in-laws: Jim Engelhart, Janet (Gary) Roth, Mary Jean (Dennis) Ladner, David McCauley, Bob (Sherry) Schumacher, Ken (Susan) Schumacher, Vicki Schumacher, Carol Schumacher; and many nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ina Mae Torigian; her son Christopher; her sister Gloria Engelhart; and her in-laws, Phyllis & Frank Walth, Patty McCauley, and Rick Schumacher.
