Shannon McGee, 68, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Schriver's Memorial Chapel, with Deacon Pete Mehlhaff officiating.

A time for fellowship and refreshments will follow at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

In lieu of flowers, all memorials will be given to programs closest to Shannon’s heart.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com. Services will be recorded and posted on Schriver’s website following the service.

Shannon Elizabeth McGee was born on August 30, 1957, in Minneapolis, MN, to Dr. Robert C. and LaDonna (Iverson) McGee. She graduated from Roncalli High School. She attended Northern State University and the University of South Dakota, where she met her former spouse, with whom she shared two sons.

Shannon was an accomplished artist and calligrapher. She loved watching hockey and out-fishing her partner, Tim Wilson. She was devoted to her dachshund, Hank IV, and the many four-legged friends before him who brought her great joy. Her true passion in life was helping people.

She is survived by her two sons, Jordan Robert Lee (Jessica Slettedahl) Kary of Aberdeen, and Joshua William Kary of Minneapolis; one brother, Sean McGee of New York, NY; and many friends.

Shannon was preceded in death by her parents.
