Sarah Faye DeWald (Holsworth), 86, of Ellendale, ND passed away on July 16th, 2026, at Prairie Heights Care Facility in Aberdeen, SD.

Sarah was born on April 2nd, 1940, in McPherson County near Forbes, ND, to Marion and Maude (Hart) Holsworth. She attended country school in Forbes.

On April 3rd, 1960, Sarah married Virgil DeWald of Ellendale, ND, at Christ Lutheran Church near Ellendale. In 1962, Sarah and Virgil purchased their farm in Albion township, where they would raise their two sons, Perry and Kevin.

Sarah worked in the kitchen at Ellendale Public School. She also owned the Second Chance used clothing store in Ellendale. Sarah enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, crocheting, card playing, and rummage sales. She loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Sarah is survived by two children: Perry (Deb) DeWald of Ellendale, ND, and Kevin DeWald of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren: Amy DeWald of Ellendale, ND, Megan (Zach) Kessler of Glen Ullin, ND, and Jake DeWald of Ellendale, ND. She is also survived by two siblings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; 8 of 11 brothers and sisters; and her parents.

There will be a small family gathering at the gravesite.
