Russell Dean Holtey, 72, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

A time of sharing memories with family present and refreshments will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Russell Dean Holtey was born August 18, 1951, to Boyd and Marge (Wright) Holtey in San Antonio, Texas. At a young age, he moved to Wessington, SD, with his family, where he attended school and graduated from high school.

Following high school, he enlisted in the US Navy. After his honorable discharge, he attended trade school in Black Hawk, SD. He later moved to Aberdeen, SD. Where he was self-employed in the construction business.

Russell was united in marriage to Susan E. Sobeski in Aberdeen, SD, on March 15, 1985. They celebrated 39 years of marriage in 2024 before Russell’s passing. Three children were born into this union: Jeremy, Kori, and Michelle.

Russell was a man of all trades. He handmade unique concrete ornaments, was a ham radio enthusiast, and enjoyed scuba diving. Russell never retired and was still working up until his passing.

Grateful for having shared Russell’s life are his wife, Susan; children: Jeremy (Tammy) Holtey, Kori (CJ) Langenhoven, and Michelle (Tamara) Holtey; five grandchildren: Bellamy, Lillian, Kaylee, Brianna, and Cheyenne; one brother, Thomas (Emily) Holtey; and one sister, Linda (Don) Hanks.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents.
