Mass of Christian Burial for Rose H. Piatz, 88, of Aberdeen, will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser the celebrant.

Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at the mortuary with a Liturgical Wake Service being held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at church on Wednesday.

Rose passed away Friday, December 26, 2014, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor Retirement Community, Aberdeen.

Rose H. Uhrich was born in Loyalton, near Roscoe, South Dakota, November 23, 1926 to Stan and Clara (Glatt) Uhrich. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school near her home. Rose then moved to Aberdeen and began working retail.

She married Frank J. Piatz on November 7, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They continued to make Aberdeen their home until Frank's job transferred them to Sioux Falls in 1987. They returned to Aberdeen after Frank's retirement to live out their retirement years.

Rose especially enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed babysitting them and also provided childcare in her home for other families.

Grateful for having shared in Rose's life are her daughter, Susan (Kevin) Dell of Aberdeen; two granddaughters, Sandra (Kevin) Pons of Minneapolis, MN and Jessica (Jared) Frach of Maple Grove, MN; two great-grandsons, Liam Pons and Jack Pons of Minneapolis, MN; two brothers, Larry Uhrich of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Tom (Jean) Uhrich of Rapid City, SD; and two sisters, Eva Binfet of Cascade, IA and Jean (Don) Bertsch of Chandler, AZ.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, her son Gary, and two sisters, Chris Binfet and Wallie Binfet.
