Rose Elizabeth Betkowski was born on March 24, 1920, to Bronislav and Mary (Novak) Betkowski in Brooklyn, New York. This is the area where she was raised and attended school. Following high school graduation in 1938, Rose furthered her education and attended secretarial school. She became employed as an inspector and traveled the country.
Rose met the love of her life, United States Marine Mike Hoadley, at a dance in San Diego, CA, in 1941 while she was working for the USO. She then became employed for the government with the Military Intelligence Division War Department from 1944 until 1945.
Rose was united in marriage to Mike on December 26, 1946, in Kewanee, IL. The couple made their home in Brooklyn, NY, where Rose worked as the office manager for a textile company. In 1951, she and Mike moved to Aberdeen and worked at Hoadley Electric in Bath, SD. In 1954, they opened City Radio and TV in Aberdeen, which they ran until their retirement in September of 1995. Rose became a resident of Aberdeen Health and Rehab in 2009 and was crowned their 2010 Snow Queen, a title she was very proud of. She continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.
Rose was an accomplished seamstress and sewed all of her children's clothing. She also was an expert at knitting and crocheting and loved making hats for cancer care. In her spare time, Rose enjoyed studying genealogy, playing bridge, and doing volunteer work at the Alexander Mitchell Library.
Blessed to have shared in Rose's life are her children, Elaine Ramsdell of Warner, SD, Patrice Griffiths of Boise, ID and Lynn Bonnet of Choctaw, OK; and four grandchildren: Abby Ramsdell, Matthew Ramsdell, Aaron Griffiths, and Jaret Griffiths.
Rose's parents, husband, Mike Hoadley, and eight siblings preceded her in death.
