Ronald G. Shilman was born January 4, 1947, in rural Aberdeen, SD, to Gerald and Viola (Crawford) Shilman.  He was raised on the family farm several miles from Aberdeen.  Later, Ronnie and his family moved into Aberdeen, where he attended public school and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School.

In 1966, Ronnie enlisted in the United States Navy and spent four years on a Navy Supply Ship before receiving his Honorable Discharge.  He then returned to Aberdeen and became employed at Mac’s Auto Body for a short time before beginning a lengthy career as a machinist for Hub City Iron.  Due to ill health, Ronnie was forced to retire from Hub City at the age of 62.  In 2016, he entered Bethesda Home of Aberdeen, where he continued to reside until the time of his death.

In his spare time, Ronnie loved doing auto body work on old cars, especially 1957 Chevys, one of which he had restored for himself.  He was a member of the Northland Strollers and had made many life-long friendships with other members.

Grateful for sharing in Ronnie’s life are his sisters, Linda (Chuck) Menzia and Pam (Butch) Jangula, both of Aberdeen; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Viola; and three brothers:  Dale Shilman, Neil Johnson, and Gary Johnson.
