Ronald “Ron” Dean Hekrdle was born October 27th, 1941, in Redfield, South Dakota, to Henry and Lillian (Zeigler) Hekrdle. Ron graduated from Redfield High School in 1959 and immediately began his lifelong dedication to farming. He proudly served in the South Dakota National Guard from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1969. He then returned to the farm northeast of Redfield- land established by his grandparents in 1905- to work alongside his parents and brother, Roger.
Ron married Debra Curtis on November 11, 1976. Together, they shared 25 years of marriage and raised five children.
Ron found joy in the simple pleasures of rural life- hunting, taking drives to survey the crops and livestock, and above all, spending time with his grandchildren. He loved playing cards and checkers with his kids every chance he got.
He is survived by his children: Tara Hekrdle of Estelline, SD, and her son, Ty; Tam (Kris) Kolar of Helena, MT, and their children, Cade, Jase, and Kynlee; Brett Hekrdle (Marycris Tabotabo) of Redfield; Brad (Bri) Hekrdle of Redfield and their sons, Jackson and Henry; and Nona (Tyrone) Schenk of Maplewood, MN, and their son Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
