Robert "Bob" Leo Miller

Robert “Bob” Leo Miller, 90, of Andover, MN and formerly of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2019.

His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, SD.

A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Aberdeen.

Visitation at the mortuary will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.  Family and friends may sign Bob’s online guestbook and also view his service via the live stream service link at www.schriversmemorial.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorials in Bob’s name to the YMCA of Andover Senior Fund, Andover, MN.

Robert Leo Miller was born to Anton and Katherine (Wald) Miller on July 28, 1929. He grew up on a farm in Hague, ND. Bob’s first language was German and he did not learn English until he went to school, but he never lost his strong German accent.

Bob moved to Aberdeen, where he met his wife, Theresa Fischer.  The couple married and made Aberdeen their home, where they raised their two children.

Bob worked many years at Dakota Sash and Door and enjoyed ushering at St. Mary’s Church. Bob was always active, social, and in the know. He was a life-long gardener and enjoyed a good garage sale bargain. You often would hear him whistling while biking, driving his scooter around town, or taking his heated golf cart to the YMCA for a workout. He was very social and enjoyed cards, bingo, bowling, dancing, and a good conversation. He and Theresa wintered in Florida and Arizona for many wonderful years. In later years, they moved to Minnesota to be close to their family. Bob was a loving caretaker of his wife and was extremely proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love for his family will endure forever.

Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Theresa; son, Gary (Jane); daughter, Charlene Johnson (Ross); grandchildren: Brandon (Jenni), Justin (Mirella), Briana, Kayla (Brian) and Elsie; great-granddaughters:  Sydney, Eden, and Morgan; brothers:  Edmund, Conrad, and Dennis; and sisters: Mary Volk and Anna Braun.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Chester and John and also two infant brothers; and his sister, Alice Heier.
