Robert "Bob" A. Gross, 76, of Aberdeen, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Ave SE, Aberdeen, with Father Shane D. Stevens, Celebrant. Burial follows at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is handling arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at the mortuary, with a Liturgical Wake at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before Mass at church.
Robert "Bob" Andrew Gross was born on November 14, 1938, to Andrew and Catherine (Brendel) Gross in Aberdeen, SD. This is the area where he was raised and attended parochial schools.
Bob was united in marriage to June Hoing in Kimball, SD, on October 8, 1960. The couple made their home in Aberdeen, where Bob held a life-long career in masonry work. He and June raised five children and shared over 49 years of marriage before she passed away on January 12, 2010. Bob continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of his death.
Bob was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen, where he was involved in the Light Of The World prayer group. He was also very involved in his children's activities. Bob was an avid fan of auto racing and in his spare time, enjoyed working on little projects in his garage. He especially enjoyed socializing with his coffee groups.
Blessed to have shared Bob's life are his children: Roger Gross of Grandview, MO, Richard (Connie Bruemmer) Gross of Aberdeen, Rose Ann (Duane) Zabel of Selby, SD, Susan Mehlhaff of Aberdeen, and Patrick Gross of Aberdeen; his grandchildren:, Natalie, Nicole and Lynnel Bruemmer, Sara and Erica Bender, Dylan and Dawson Zabel, Taylor and Matthew Mehlhaff, and Sheldon, Jorden, Jayden, Garrett Gross, John and Neil Schneider; great-grandson, Carter Kannenberg; and his brother, Don Gross of Aberdeen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter, Shelby, and sister-in-law, Alene Gross.
