Ricky Joe Sain

Ricky Joe Sain, 47, of Leola, SD, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

Rick’s wishes were to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at Leola Cafeteria, Leola, SD, on September 30th at 1:00 p.m.

There will be an additional service held in Lubbock Texas at a later date.

Rick was born in Clovis, New Mexico on August 28, 1976, to Richard and Margaret (Miller) Sain.  Ricky was raised in Clovis where he attended school and graduated high school.

Later he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and met Vivian Hill. The pair were married on May 10, 2020, in Las Vegas, NV.  They moved to Leola in May of 2023. He served the community well, but still made time to pursue his own artistic projects and he never missed a Dallas Cowboys game.

Rick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. As gentle as he was strong, he would rise to any occasion with grace and wisdom. He had the kind of smile that could light up any room. Our family’s hope is that everyone finds their Rick so they can experience what it’s like to be treasured. He was an angel among us and will be missed dearly by the lives he touched.

Grateful for having shared Rick’s life is his loving wife, Vivian; son Ricky Sain Jr. of Clovis, New Mexico; daughters: Harleigh Sain of Clovis, New Mexico, Madalyn and Elizabeth Cole of Leola; brother John (Cheri) Sain of Lubbock, Texas; and two grandchildren: Zedsu Allen, and Yumeko Allen.
