Richard Shackle

Richard “Rick” Shackle, 66, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the CLU Building, 617 S. 15th St., Aberdeen, SD.

In lieu of flowers, Rick had requested that memorials be directed to Lori Volk at 3107 Cyprus St. N, Aberdeen, SD 57401, to go toward the expenses of Rick’s ten-month battle with cancer.

Richard Alan Shackle was born on July 15, 1960, to Richard and Patricia (Barstow) Shackle in Blaine, Minnesota. Leaving the fast pace of Minnesota where he grew up, Rick relocated to Faulkton, SD, and later made Aberdeen, SD, his forever home alongside Lori Volk.

He leaves behind his children: Wendy, Angela, and Shawn (Kelsey); bonus children: Jenny (Josh), David (Meghan) and Doug (Shelby); grandchildren: Aaron, Ashlyn, Lexi, Chase, Jaylyn, Ben, Jackson, Katrina, Parker, Ryhan, Rudy, Lawson, Kenneth, Jayden and Natalie (Jesse); great-grandson, Baylor; siblings: Steve (Sue), Lynn, Lori (Dale), and Lisa (Tom) and their families; and bonus in-laws: Gerrie, Mel, Pat, Janet and their families.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Patricia; brother, Robert; and bonus in-laws, Marilyn and Florian.
