Raymond Heilman, 80, of Aberdeen, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen, with Father Mark Lichter as celebrant.
Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Aberdeen.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, Aberdeen, is handling arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake and Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before Mass at church.
Raymond Heilman was born on July 30, 1935, in Bowdle, SD to Peter P. and Rosina (Imberi) Heilman. He grew up on the family farm and helped his dad farm. Throughout his life, Raymond found great enjoyment in farming and raising feeder cattle, dairy cattle, pigs, and sheep.
Raymond was united in marriage to Elenora Hulm on September 9, 1957, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hague, ND. Together they farmed and raised three children. In 2013, after farming for 55 years, Raymond and Elenora retired and moved to Aberdeen. They continued to make Aberdeen their home until his death.
Raymond was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen, where he was active in the Knights of Columbus.
Blessed to have shared Raymond's life are his wife, Elenora Heilman of Aberdeen; three children: Ron Heilman and special friend, Tammy Rose, of Aberdeen, Susan (Galen) Waldman of Aberdeen and Sandra (Mike) Nickles of DeWitt, IA; two grandchildren, Christine (Trey) Buechler of Sioux Falls, SD and Dominic (Cassi) Nickles of Wasilla, AK; great-grandson, Lincoln Buechler of Sioux Falls, SD; siblings: Pius Heilman, Florence (Paul) Malsom, Josephine Mathern and Rose (Conrad) Lauinger; and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Peter P. and Rosina Heilman; brothers, Joe and George; sisters, Lena Gisi and Virginia Schmaltz; brothers-in-law: Blaze Mathern, Sebastian Schmaltz, and Ben Gisi; sisters-in-law: Nettie Heilman and Erliss Heilman; and three nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Adam Malsom, Rocky Gisi, Arnie Lauinger, Trey Buechler, Tim Jackson and Duane Gisi.
