Peter “Pete” Schneider, 91, of Watertown, SD and formerly of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 13th, the birthday of his first-born grandson, Brandon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father Michael Griffin as celebrant.

Burial follows at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign Pete’s online guestbook and also view his service via the live stream service link at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service and rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church on Friday.

Pete was born in St. Michael, ND on July 30, 1926.  He was one of 12 children born to Sebastian and Catherine (Wolf) Schneider.  Pete grew up on a farm and attended country school there.

Pete was united in marriage to Lorraine Glatt on October 28, 1948.  They moved to Aberdeen and established their home there for 62 years.  They were blessed with two children, Ronnie and Becky.

Pete worked for the City of Aberdeen for 37 years, an accomplishment he was very proud of.  It was said that there wasn’t a piece of heavy-duty equipment or machine that he could not operate.

Most important, Pete was an ordinary, good man.  He didn’t have a great impact on the world, but he knew the Lord, loved his family, knew the importance of hard work, and always lived by the motto of doing the right thing.

Lorraine passed away in 2010 and Pete moved to Watertown in 2012, when he entered Jenkins Nursing Home in Watertown, to be closer to his son and family.

Pete is survived by his children, Ronnie (Margaret) Schneider of Watertown and Becky (Rod) Glaesman of Prior Lake, MN; three grandchildren:  Brandon (Randi) Schneider, Alyssa Lambrecht and Joshua (Megan) Schneider; 11 great-grandchildren; one foster great-grandchild; three sisters, Maggie Kuntz and Christine (William) Heier, both of Bismarck, ND and Katie Miller of Portland, OR; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; his parents, Sebastian and Catherine; five brothers:  Jerome, Tony, Louie, Mike, and Joe; and three sisters:  Mary, Betty, and Theresa.
