Perry Edward Pitz was born on November 28, 1933, to Peter J. and Kathryn B. (Fischer) Pitz on the family farm north of Ipswich, SD. At the age of 10, Perry and his family moved to Aberdeen. He attended country school until the 8th grade and then attended St. Mary's School in the 9th grade.

Perry was united in marriage to Jacqueline Joy Klinger on June 19, 1954, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen. The couple raised three children and shared 59 years of marriage before he passed away. Perry held various jobs throughout his lifetime, working for DeVeries and owning a gas station when first married, but farming was always his passion. In addition to farming, Perry also purchased Doctor Scratch Company and sold cattle dusters. He truly loved his work and especially loved the time spent with his family.

Blessed to have shared Perry's life are his wife, Jacqueline Joy Pitz of Aberdeen; one son, Bob (Brenda) Pitz of Mina, SD; two daughters, Rella (Louie) Botha and Rosanne (Joe) Malsom, both of Aberdeen; six grandchildren, Nathan (Melissa) Pitz, Briana Pitz, Corrie (Andy) Sprinkel, Ryan (Amy) Erickson, Luke Malsom and Sarah Malsom; two step-grandchildren, Mathew Malsom and Ryan Malsom; five great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Larry (Merilee) Pitz of Tucson, AZ; and long-time family friend and employee, Mike (Kathy) Wagner.

Perry's parents, three brothers, eight sisters and one great-granddaughter, Ashtyn Joy Sprinkel, preceded him in death.
