Paula Kay Cowles, 54, of Lemmon, SD, and formerly of Aberdeen, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at her home in Lemmon.
Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser presiding.
Paula's wishes were to be cremated with interment taking place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Aberdeen.
A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.

Paula Kay Cowles was born to John "Jack" and Karen (Engelhart) Cowles on December 13, 1959, in Aberdeen, SD. She attended and graduated from Aberdeen Roncalli High School in 1978 and furthered her education at Presentation College, where she received a degree in Medical Records in 1981. After working in the Medical field, Paula decided to become a nurse. She attended school in Pierre and became an LPN, graduating with honors in 1983. Paula was employed with the Aberdeen Living Center (now Aberdeen Health & Rehab), until she moved to Lemmon, SD in 2005. While in Lemmon, she was employed with Five Counties Nursing Home until poor health forced her to retire in 2011.
Paula is survived by her parents, John and Karen Cowles of Aberdeen; two nieces, Jennifer Cowles and her son, Trey Hofer of Aberdeen and Cindy (T.J.) Genzler and their daughters, Audra, Autumn, and Aubrie of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Jannelle Cowles (Bill) Nelson of Redfield, SD; and aunts and uncles: Marge Zerr of West Fargo, ND, Pat Silvernail of Blue Springs, MO, Judy (Andre) Fontenelle of Aberdeen, Nancy (Michael) Hatzenbeller of Aberdeen, Kathy (David) Bormes of Downers Grove, IL, Mary DeVaan of Minnetonka, MN, Janet (Stuart) Barton of Aberdeen, Jean (Mike) Weston of Lakeville, MN, Jim (Susan) Engelhart of Rosemount, MN, Carol Thies of Java, SD, Dick (Janice) Cowles of Bonners Ferry, ID, and Ray Styles of Random Lake, WI.
Paula is preceded in death by her grandparents: Joseph L. and Edith Engelhart and Fred and Veronica Cowles; her brother, Tom Cowles on August 3, 1997; her aunts and uncles: Joseph P. Engelhart, Dwayne Zerr, Gary Silvernail, Fred and Kay Cowles, Larry Thies and Betty Styles.
