Paul W. Usselman, 80, of Mina, SD, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at his home.

A Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen, with Father Tim Cone officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors.

Paul Wendelin Usselman was born on April 11, 1945, to Wendelin Walter and Helen Marie (Case) Usselman at St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. He grew up on the family farm near Mina. Paul graduated from Ipswich High School in 1963.

He joined the Army Reserves shortly after high school and served for 38 years before his honorable discharge. Paul later started working for the Milwaukee Railroad and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 38 years until retirement. Paul served as the cemetery sexton for Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Ipswich for many years.

Paul was a dedicated lifelong member of the Aberdeen Sydney L. Smith American Legion Post #24, the Aberdeen Moose Lodge 590, Masonic Lodge, and the Yelduz Shrine. He was also a member of the Men’s Catholic Order of Forster’s, the Aberdeen Elks Lodge, Aberdeen Knights of Columbus and Council 1520 3rd and 4th Degree, and the Faulkton Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He attended retreats at the Abbey of Assumption in Richardton, ND, and was an Oblate.

Paul is survived by his sisters, Gail Usselman and Lois Usselman; his nieces and nephews, Jon Walberg, Shawn Walberg, Natasha Walberg, and Joshua Walberg. His special furry friends: a Pomeranian dog, Helen; two cats, Mama Blackie, and Alice.
