Patrick J. Heath, 87, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Father Greg Tschakert officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery following Mass.
A time for fellowship and a luncheon will follow burial at the parish hall.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, at the mortuary with a liturgical wake and rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.
Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com. Services will be recorded and posted on Schriver’s website following the service.
Patrick Joseph Heath was born on June 25, 1937, to Steve and Tina (King) Heath. He started life in Crandall, SD, where he attended country school and was fortunate enough to be able to ride his horse to school each day. This experience sparked a lifelong love of horses, and he owned many throughout his lifetime.
He married Jeanne Alice Schiley on February 16, 1957. They started their journey in the Black Hills, where Pat worked at Homestake Mine. They moved to Aberdeen after a couple of years, and Pat attended Northern State Teachers College. From there, they moved to Eureka, SD, where he had his first teaching job in a country school with nine kids in seven grades! After a couple of years, they moved to Aberdeen, where he taught school till his retirement. In his spare time, Pat loved to hunt and fish with his son Tim and his numerous friends.
Pat and Jean had two children, Terry Holman of Kansas City and Timothy Heath of Pierre; seven grandkids and two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Christina Heath; wife, Jeanne; and sisters: Mary Bailey, Sheila Hausvik, and Rose Marie Jacobsen.
