Patricia A. "Pattie" Volk

Patricia A. "Pattie" Volk, 87, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen.

Her memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2014, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Reverend James E. Clarke officiating.

Refreshments and a time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.

Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Aberdeen at a later date.

Patricia A. Wagar was born on May 26, 1927, in Aberdeen, SD, to Grayce Wagar and John Lehr. This is the area where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with The Class of 1945. Following graduation, Pattie became employed at Joe Goodrich Insurance and then Woodward White Drug.

Pattie was united in marriage to Arnold H. Volk in Aberdeen on May 18, 1953. The couple made their home in Aberdeen, where Pattie worked at the Elks Lodge and then at South Dakota Wheat Growers, where she remained employed until her retirement in 1994. She and Arnie shared 33 years of marriage and raised two children before he passed away in 1986. Pattie continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of her death.

Pattie found great enjoyment working in and tending to her yard. During her stay at ManorCare, Pattie enjoyed sitting near the nurse's station and greeting everyone with a big "HI!" and was always ready for a cookie.

Grateful to have shared in Pattie's life are her children: Arnold "Dick" Volk and Theresa "Terrie" (Noel) Martens, all of Aberdeen; one grandson, Graig (Shar Thayer-Rowley) Volk, two great-granddaughters: Sara & Kylie Volk, and two step-great-grandsons: Cody and Hunter Thayer-Rowley, all of Walla Walla, WA.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Arnold.
