Olena Kachanov, 48, of Aberdeen, passed away of breast cancer on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, surrounded by her family, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Her memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Kevin Bergeson officiating.

A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Visitation at the mortuary will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  Family and friends may sign Olena’s online guestbook and also view her service via the live stream service link at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Private family interment will take place in Ukraine at a later date.

Olena was born on January 2nd, 1970 in Kharkov, Ukraine, to loving parents Anatoliy and Valentyna Bezborodov.

She graduated in 1988 from Kharkov Nursing School, and happily married Oleksandr Kachanov on February 4, 1990. Olena gave birth to two boys – Seva (1991) and Sasha (1994). In pursuit of happiness, the family moved to Israel in 2005, where she successfully learned Hebrew from scratch, as well as reestablished herself as an operating room nurse at Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon. In 2011, the family relocated to the United States, where she continued her professional pursuits, as well as continued to raise her family with love and care.

Olena was a caring mother, and a supportive wife. She loved helping people and was relentlessly positive, even in difficult times. Olena loved cooking, travelling with family, meeting new people, creating art, and adding color and music to life. She will be remembered for her selflessness, kindness, and love.

Grateful to have shared in Olena’s life are her husband, Oleksandr Kachanov of Aberdeen; two sons, Seva Kachanov of London, England and Sasha Kachanov of Chicago, IL; her mother, Valentyna Bezborodov, and sister, Maryna Bezborodov, both of Ukraine.

Olena was preceded in death by her infant daughter and her father, Anatoliy Bezborodov.
