Norman H. Hagen

Norman H. Hagen, 76, of Stratford, SD, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Robin Schaunaman of Scandinavian Lutheran Church officiating.

A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Burial will take place at Scandinavian Lutheran Cemetery in rural Stratford at a later date.

Visitation at the mortuary will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Norman Hans Hagen was born on October 29, 1943, in Aberdeen, SD to Hans and Susan (Snover) Hagen. He attended Sunnyview Elementary, Simmons Middle School and Warner High School.

After high school, Norman joined the National Guard of South Dakota, serving for 5 ½ years.  After leaving the national guard, he returned to work on the family farm.

Norman married Geneva Marie Raymond on March 10, 1967. Together they had five children; Bobbie Jo, Randy, Scott, Jamie, and Karen.  They continued to farm the family land and raise livestock. Over the years, Norman built a career in trucking and for a time, owned his own trucking company.

Norman had a love for traveling, whether it was his semi or the RV, you could always find him on the open road. He knew how to get anywhere you asked. Norm always had a story to tell and never gave a serious answer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and furry companion, “Little Lee”.

He is survived by his sister, Harriet Tabbert of Manson, NC; children:  Bobbie Jo Hagan of Canyon, TX, Randall Hagan of Stratford, SD, Scott (Michelle) Hagan of Stratford, SD, Jamie (Hillary) Hagen of Aberdeen and Karen (Darin Van Eschen) Coombes of Big Stone City, SD; ten grandchildren:  Heather Tisdall, Todd Tisdall, Tim Tisdall, Michael Hagan, Erica Hagan, Jessica Hagan, Taylor Hagen, Grace Hagen, Elizabeth Hagen, and Austin Coombes; seven great-grandchildren; Summer Ratliff, SkyeAnn Ratliff, Blakely Tisdall, Rozlyn Tisdall, Ellie Tisdall, and twins, Jaxon and Jason Tisdall.

Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Hagen; mother, Susan Hagen; father, Hans Hagen; and sister, Darlys Hagen.
