Myron H. Voegele was born on March 15, 1937, in Roscoe, SD, to John and Paulina (Pleinis) Voegele. He grew up on a farm near Roscoe and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1957.
Myron was united in marriage to Janice Hauck on June 14, 1959. Soon after, Myron entered the United States Army and was stationed at Ft Belvoir in Virginia, where he was a part of the honor guard for President JFK.
Myron and Janice’s lives were made complete with the addition of two sons, Greg and Todd. The family eventually settled in Aberdeen, SD, where they raised their sons. Myron worked at Vilhauer Plumbing for 25 years, and then worked for Presentation College for 13 years before retiring.
Music was one of Myron’s greatest passions. He played guitar and sang for the Starlighters for 40 years! He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and especially loved decorating for Christmas.
After retiring, many hours were spent socializing with friends at the shop, where they restored tractors to drive in Tractor Runs. It was always “Happy Hour” at the shop where the boys also liked to make cheese buttons.
Grateful for having shared Myron’s life are his wife of 66 years, Janice Voegele; two sons: Greg (Lisa) Voegele of Danbury, WI, and Todd (Pam) Voegele of Aberdeen, SD; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ida Adam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Paulina, five brothers, and two sisters.
