Monica Jo Huber was born May 8, 1983, on Mother’s Day, to Steve Casey and Karen Goodall in Aberdeen, SD. She started school in Warner, SD, where she graduated in 2001. From the get-go, her favorite activity was terrorizing her big brother. As a teenager, a move to Westport helped cement a strong bond with her maternal grandparents, Bill and Larue Cantwell. Monica obtained two Bachelor of Science degrees from Northern State University.

She learned her work ethic early on mom’s knee at Centennial Village and on into adulthood as she held more pivotal roles there herself. She never met a challenge she didn’t want to overcome, from her days at Minerva’s as a teenager to her years running the office and finances of multiple successful businesses. If she didn’t know how to do it, she knew how to find out. Monica loved her job and the people she worked with.

Monica met Mike SnowFly in high school and from their later union, Ashtyn (Mya) Fern SnowFly was born October 1, 2002. Monica and Josh Huber were blessed Jordyn Olivia Huber on January 14, 2009, and on September 18, 2010, they married. Monica was a very family-driven person as her long-time partner Michael (Mike) Benecke can attest. Monica, Ashtyn, and Jordyn moved to Sioux City where they lived with Mike until her unexpected passing. She was super proud of her new grandbaby as Mike’s daughter recently had a baby. When in her circle, you were family and it was forever.

Monica faced many struggles in her life, not the least of which were her addictions. Every challenge was met head-on with a determination one can only admire and strive to achieve. Monica enjoyed spending time with friends and family and had a true passion for her job with her greatest joy being her children. She helped people reach achievements in life they were too afraid to aim for and pushed them even further. She welcomed everyone with open arms and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Monica shared a special bond with countless people and will be truly missed.

Grateful for having shared Monica’s life are her partner, Michael Benecke; children: Ashtyn (Mya) SnowFly, and Jordyn Olivia Huber; siblings: brother, Eric (Julie) Brandenburger, and soul sister, Melissa Johnson; nieces and nephews: Kyla Wegleitner (Brandenburger), Kaiden Brandenburger, and Karter Brandenburger.

Preceding Monica in death were her maternal grandparents, Bill and Larue Cantwell.
