Michelle Fay Stark was born on February 2, 1973, in Aberdeen, SD, to Kurtis Stark and Fay Stark at Dakota Midland Hospital. She grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Central High School in 1991.

Michelle worked at McDonald’s during high school and later at the Lollipop Factory and Mercury’s Dry Cleaning before dedicating herself fully to raising her children as a full-time mother to children: Tyler, Taylor, Brittany, Andrew, and Fynn.

Michelle loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She had a deep love for animals, and her pets were an important part of her life. Her two cats, Lizzy and Zomma, and her dog, Mattie, were her constant companions. Over the years, she cared for many beloved pets, including her cherished cat BooBoos, whose ashes she kept as a memorial in her home.

In her free time, Michelle enjoyed watching true crime programs, following her favorite soap operas, and listening to her favorite band, KISS. She also treasured simple joys like summer trips with her children to water parks, Wylie Park, Mina Lake, and Storybook Land. As a young girl, she loved roller skating, learned to swim early, and was known for her signature green knitted hat that she wore everywhere.

Michelle was remembered by those who knew her as resilient and strong, someone who faced life’s many hardships with determination. She had overcome many challenges during her years, but was taken too soon to enjoy the benefits of her battles. She worked hard to stay cheerful and encouraging to others, even during times when she was struggling herself. Her love for her family, especially her children and grandchildren, defined her life.

Grateful for having shared her life are her five children: Tyler Menzia, Taylor Chase, Brittany Moffenbier, Andrew Marko, and Fynn Marko; five grandchildren: Ayden Moffenbier, Avalyn Moffenbier, Avery Moffenbier, Emersyn Moffenbier, and Declan Moffenbier; her mother, Fay Stark; her grandparents, Charles and Frances Armstrong; and her husband, Erik.

She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis, her mother-in-law, Lynda Marko, and her father-in-law, Terry Marko.
