Mass of Christian Burial for Maureen Barbara Wolf, 70, of Aberdeen, will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen, with Father Jonathan M. Venner, Celebrant. A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow Mass. Burial will take place at St. Otto’s Catholic Cemetery in Webster, SD, at a later date.

A Liturgical Wake Service will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary and one hour before Mass at the church on Friday. Maureen passed away Saturday March 15, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen. Blessed be her memory. Maureen Barbara Spiering was born on March 17, 1943, to Forrest “Buzz” and Mary (Geis) Spiering on a farm near Butler, SD, during a snowstorm. She attended country school until the 8th grade in Dakota Gulch Township, rural Butler, SD. For her high school years she attended and graduated from Webster High School in 1960. Maureen moved to Aberdeen in the fall of 1960, where she worked at various jobs. She then attended Presentation College and earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. Maureen worked at Dakota Midland Hospital until it’s closing. In 1989, she began working at ManorCare Health Services, where she continued to work until her passing. Maureen enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid bowler 25 years ago, before becoming a nurse to help people. She enjoyed the company of people. Maureen also liked tending to her apartment buildings and spending time helping out on the farm. She was a person who believed in hard work and spent every day of her life working from sunrise to sunset. Those who will cherish her memory are her three children: Pam Lafferty, Rhonda Naasz (Bob Barnes) and Jamie Naasz, all of Aberdeen; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Lois (Andy) Gisi of Aberdeen; and three nieces and one nephew, all of Aberdeen. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one grandchild and one nephew. Pallbearers will be seven of Maureen’s grandchildren: Nathan Lafferty, Brandon Lafferty, Christine Maack, Amanda Swearingen, Derrick Lafferty, Destiny Naasz and Dallas Naasz.
