Marydell Inman

August 19, 1921 — March 27, 2016

Marydell (Christensen) Inman, age 94, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Angelhaus Regional Basic Care Center in Aberdeen, SD.

She is survived by her children: Ella (John) McDowell of Mina Lake, Lorelei (Wayne) Hoff of The Villages, FL, Mary (Doug) Walz of Huron, Paula (Gene) Jerke of Richmond Lake, and Bill Inman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Neil (Lucy) Christensen of Salem, OR; sisters-in-law: Dolores Inman of Aberdeen, Jeanne (Lloyd) Brick of Sioux Falls, Joanne (Donald) Jones of Ipswich, and Marge Inman of Volga; brother-in-law, Jim Parsons of Aberdeen; and her dear friend, Anita Anderson of Aberdeen.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Maynard "Bud" Kenneth Inman; two sisters: Alice DeWalt Parsons and Alma Berke; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Marydell Inman was born on August 19, 1921, in Norway, KS, to Myron and Gertie (Moore) Christensen. She graduated from high school at Sioux Falls Washington and continued her education at Northern State College in Aberdeen. While living in Aberdeen, Marydell worked for Wilson Freight Company.

Marydell married Bud Inman on November 24, 1943, in Aberdeen. She helped raise Bud's siblings, who were young when their mother passed away, and also worked with Bud for the family business, Inman Hatcheries. In later years they also operated Inman Irrigation.

Working and raising five children kept Marydell busy. While her daughters were active in Job's Daughters, she was a member of the Bethel Guardian Council. Marydell was also a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, where she was active in the Women's Circle. Marydell and Bud loved to go to Canada fishing and they enjoyed watching the World Series together. For many years, she and Bud traveled to California during the winter months, where they visited family and friends. Marydell loved to read, embroider, play bridge and work crossword puzzles.

Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2016, at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 West Melgaard Road, Aberdeen, with Pastors Tim and Ginny Adams officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow the service.

Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen. Closed casket visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marydell's life.
