Mary Louise Voss Zapata, 75, of Hawthorne, CA, passed away surrounded by her family on April 19, 2025, under the loving care provided by her sister, Fae Perry, in Ohio and Cleveland Clinic Hospice.
A private burial service will be held in Aberdeen, SD, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials in her memory can be sent to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice or any of your favorite charities.

Mary, daughter of Erwin and Frances Voss of Andover, SD, was born on September 23, 1949, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She was the oldest of 3 daughters. Mary attended Groton High School and graduated from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD, with a degree in elementary education. She taught music in Minnesota and Colorado before moving to California and working for UPS. Playing music was her gift, which she shared with the church, students, family, and friends.
Mary is survived by her husband George Zapata of Hawthorne, CA; two sisters Fae Perry of University Heights, OH, and Ruth Graff of Moorhead, MN; along with five nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Frances Voss, and a brother-in-law, Rollin Perry, Sr.
She will be deeply missed by her family, who find peace that she is in a place with no pain or suffering. The family would like to give special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, and all who provide loving care from the Cleveland Clinic Hospice.
