Mary M. (Sterzinger) Kellar, 55, of Yankton, SD, and formerly of Aberdeen, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2015, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Reverend Christopher Strohm officiating.
Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Aberdeen with a luncheon and time of fellowship following at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the mortuary on Monday. Friends may sign her online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.
Per the family's request, casual dress is preferred for the service.
Mary M. (Sterzinger) Kellar was born on July 24, 1960, to Joe and Peg (Berks) Sterzinger in Mankato, MN. Mary's family then moved to Aberdeen where she attended Aberdeen Roncalli and Aberdeen Central. Following high school graduation, Mary furthered her education at Presentation College in Aberdeen and received her Bachelor's degree in social work.
Mary's career varied from being a social worker focusing on the employment of people with disabilities, to a drug and alcohol counselor, and most recently, working for the South Dakota Department of Labor.
In 2004, Mary was united in marriage to Patrick Kellar in Yankton, SD, where they resided until her death.
Mary lived with a deep sense of love and caring for her family, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, interior decorating, reading, and most of all, "gabbing" with her sisters. Mary especially loved spending time with her husband and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband, Patrick Kellar of Yankton, SD; two children: Charlie (Kate) Fabert and Bailey Lipp, both of Aberdeen; her stepchildren: Brian (Christel) Kellar of Page, AZ, Jeremy Kellar of Bend, OR; and Jennifer (Patrick Donat) Kellar of Sioux City, IA; eight grandchildren: Emma, Elycia, Micayla, Leo, Lincoln, Callie, Jada, and Dillynn; four brothers: Frank (Darla) Sterzinger of Eagan, MN, Charlie (Shelli) Sterzinger of Cottage Grove, MN, Billy Sterzinger of Aberdeen, and Pete (Jodi) Sterzinger of Woodbury, MN; two sisters: Katie (Steve) Meier of Aberdeen and Barbara (Fred) Wollman of Bath, SD; and special family friend, Rick Lipp of Aberdeen.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Joe Sterzinger, in June of 2015.
