Mass of Christian burial for Mary Ida Albrecht, 95, of Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen, with Father Melvin Kuhn as celebrant.
Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery. A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the interment at the church fellowship hall.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is handling arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-6 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary, followed by a Liturgical Wake Service at 6:00 p.m.
Mary passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2015, at the Golden Living Center in Redfield, SD.
Mary Ida (Hanlon) Albrecht was born on May 6, 1920, to William and Elizabeth (Sahm) Hanlon in Aberdeen, SD. Initially, she lived on a farm near Verdon, SD, and attended a country school near Conde, SD. Following her schooling, Mary moved to Oregon, where she worked in the shipyards. After World War II, she returned to Aberdeen.
In 1946, Mary was united in marriage to Wayne Albrecht. Their union was blessed with three children. The family made their home and lived on a farm near Columbia, SD. They later moved to Aberdeen, where Mary was employed at numerous jobs before ending her working career at the Foster Grandparent Program. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and a friend to many. Blessed be her memory.
Mary's life will be cherished by her son, Jerald (Kathleen) Albrecht of Prior Lake, MN; three grandchildren: Jerald Allen (Debbie) Albrecht of Fayetteville, NC, Len (Alice) Albrecht of Branson, MO, and Kevin Albrecht of Phoenix, AZ; five great-grandchildren: Shannon of Orlando, FL., Rachel of Burlington, IA, Amanda of Richmond, VA, Lenny of Arkansas, and Casey of Riverside, CA; four great great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Elizabeth Johnson of Rapid City, SD, Francis Armstrong of Aberdeen, and Josephine Ragels of Aberdeen.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her daughter, Alice; son, Larry; parents: William and Elizabeth Hanlon; three brothers: William Hanlon, John Hanlon, and Elmer Hanlon; and one sister, Margie Soltsiak.
