Martha was born on a small dairy farm near Wetonka, SD, on December 8, 1928, to John and Lucy (Bullock) Hauck. The family moved to rural Aberdeen, SD, when Martha was a small child. As a youngster, Martha was an excellent student, worked on the family farm, enjoyed growing up in a large family, and loved her horse and her dog.

She married Dean Salzsieder on October 11, 1950. Martha worked at various jobs in Aberdeen throughout her adult life. She loved working with Dean remodeling older houses. They were also partners in their business, Downtown Auto Electric, where she enjoyed working as the office manager and helping with customers.

In her younger years, she was very active in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, volunteering in various ladies clubs and organizations and served as President of Bethlehem's Ladies Aide for several years.

Raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren was her true passion. She was famous among her friends and family for her homemade cookies, caramel rolls and bread. There was always a place at her table!

She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Dean, of Aberdeen and their five children: David (Becky) Salzsieder, Grand Island, NE; Debra (GF) Kennedy, Pipestone, MN; Jill Zacher, Centralia, WA; Jennifer McGaugh, Aberdeen; and Jodi (Ryan) Opitz, Aberdeen; six grandchildren: Bill Trebbe, Adam Trebbe, Miranda Meidinger, Alex Meidinger, Madalyn Opitz, and Haydyn Opitz: and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all her brothers and sisters.
