Marlyne M. Metzinger

Marlyne M. Metzinger, 79, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center.

Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Sacred heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Fr. Michael Kapperman officiating.

Marlyne’s wishes were to be cremated with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.  Family and friends may sign the online guestbook and also view the service at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the mortuary with a liturgical wake at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.

Marlyne Marie Walker was born August 20, 1941 to J. Emery and Mabel (Milbrandt) Walker in Aberdeen, SD.  She graduated from Barnard High School in 1959. In October 1959, she had a son but was unable to raise him. Marlyne’s loving uncle and aunt, Ernest and Martina Milbrandt, adopted him and named him Robert (Bob).  On January 6, 1962, Marlyne married Roger D. Metzinger at Sacred Heart Church in Aberdeen.  They had four sons: Roger A., Randy, Troy, and Michael.   Marlyne was a stay-at-home mother and worked very hard raising and caring for all of her boys.

Marlyne’s grandchildren were very important to her.  She spent countless hours and days chasing them around to all of their sporting events and spending time with them.  She loved them very much.  In the little spare time she did have, Marlyne enjoyed going to yard sales and finding bargains.  Marlyne had a big heart was very loving to everyone she knew.

Marlyne was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen.

Grateful for having shared Marlyne’s life is her husband of 59 years, Roger; sons: Roger A. Metzinger, Randy (Terra) Metzinger, Troy (Mickie) Metzinger, and Michael Metzinger; brothers, John (Bonnie) Walker and Ken (Joan) Walker; sisters, Karen Buss and Donna Stengel; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren

Marlyne was preceded in death by her parents, J. Emery and Mabel Walker; son, Robert; brothers, Lyle Walker and Wayne Walker; and her sister, Joyce Walker.
