Mark Weigel, 42, of Aberdeen, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father Michael Griffin as celebrant.
Burial follows at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, Aberdeen, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at the church, with a liturgical wake service being held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation is also one hour prior to Mass at church on Tuesday. No visitation will be held at the mortuary.
Mark Weigel was born on February 23, 1973, to Francis and Betty (Schmidt) Weigel in Aberdeen, SD. This is the area where he was raised and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1991 Following graduation, Mark began working with his father at Aberdeen Taxi.
Mark was united in marriage to Marcie McMahen on August 17, 2002, in Aberdeen. The couple made Aberdeen their home where Mark continued his life-long career at Aberdeen Taxi and eventually became the owner of the company.
In his spare time, Mark enjoyed racing Late Model Stock cars, camping, and fishing. He also loved to cook and was a great chef. Mark was a true animal lover and his dogs held a special place in his heart.
Blessed to have shared in Mark's life is his wife, Marcie Weigel of Aberdeen; his parents, Francis and Betty Weigel of Aberdeen; two brothers: Ken (Lisa) Weigel of Green Bay, WI and David (Theresa) Weigel of Watertown, SD; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
