Marjorie Ann (Brotzel) Allbee was born on August 23, 1937, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to John and Mary (Mullner) Brotzel. She graduated from Barnard High School in 1955. On June 11, 1955, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Allbee Jr. Together they welcomed four children: Debra, William, Barry, and Tracy.
Marjorie and Bill made their home in Loyalton and Ipswich, before moving to Aberdeen in 1962. In 1979, they purchased acreage on Richmond Road, transforming a stubble field into a warm and welcoming home. Marjorie could often be found mowing the lawn while Bill was at work. After Bill’s passing in 2011, Marjorie remained on the property for 14 months before moving to a mobile home in Park Village, where she resided until her death.
Marjorie’s greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was well known for her love of collecting salt and pepper shakers, a collection that grew to more than 300 sets. Whenever someone traveled, she would say, “Bring me back a set.” She also enjoyed collecting angels and blue dishes.
In addition to her collections, Marjorie loved watching the television show Sister Wives, which was often a topic of conversation. She had a deep love of country music, attending concerts and collecting CDs over the years. Two years ago, she fulfilled a longtime dream of seeing her idol, Blake Shelton, in concert. She was eagerly looking forward to the concerts at this year’s Brown County Fair.
Grateful for having shared Marjorie’s life are her children: Deb (Dale Jensen) Underberg, Aberdeen, South Dakota; Bill (Tammey) Allbee, Custer, South Dakota; Barry (Darcy) Allbee, Paulsbo, Washington; and Tracy McClain, Aberdeen; her sisters, Janice Geist and Jean Clark, both of Aberdeen, and sister in law, Betty Brotzel, Billings, Montana; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four step grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Lola (Bain) Johnson, Kaye Elswick, Bonnie Johnson, and Cleone Pekelder.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage; her parents; her son-in-law, Mac McClain; her brothers, Lawrence, Bob, Larry, Earl Duane; her sister, Mary Lou McKittrick; and several sister and brothers-in-law.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported Marjorie with love, prayers, and kindness, and they find comfort in knowing her life was a blessing to many.
