I, Marilyn Volk Hildebrand, passed away on April 30, 2024, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, surrounded by family members. I was born in Strausburg, North Dakota on July 4, 1946, to George and Mary (Fiest) Volk. We moved to Aberdeen South Dakota, in 1954, where I grew up and graduated from Central High School.
After marrying Gary Hildebrand, we moved to Seattle, WA, where I worked and played for 30+ years. Although Gary and I divorced in 1994, we remained friends until Gary’s passing in 2017. After retiring in 2000, I moved back to Aberdeen to be close to my family.
I enjoyed going to the movies, playing Scrabble, and especially enjoyed reading. I was a member and frequent visitor to the Alexander Mitchell Library.
I leave in advance of my son, Todd Hildebrand, sisters Geraldine Volk Glaser, Lori (Rick) Volk, brothers Melvin (Pat) Volk, and Florian (Janet) Volk.
I was preceded in death by my parents.
In lieu of cards or flowers, I request a donation to our local Shriners organization, Yelduz Shrine Center, Aberdeen, SD, St Jude Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
A Time to Celebrate Marilyn's Life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Central Labor Union, 617 S 15th St, Aberdeen. An Ice Cream Social will follow.
