Marian Louise Urbashich was born August 21, 1928, on the family farm near St. Anthony, Minnesota to John J. and Theresa (Schmidt) Urbashich.  She attended school in St. Anthony through the 8th grade and helped out on the farm until she was 17.  At that time Marian got a job at the hospital in Moorhead, Minnesota and worked there for several years.  She later moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and worked for the Golden Rule Department Store and then the United States Post Office in St. Paul as an elevator operator.

Marian met Edward Kinder at the Post Office in St. Paul in 1956, and the couple was married on June 22, 1957.  Marian and Edward settled down in Aberdeen, South Dakota and raised three sons.   She was a housewife and stay at home mother.

In 1976, Marian decided to go back to work and was hired as a housekeeper at St. Mary’s Rectory, where she worked for twenty years before retiring in 1996.  Marian enjoyed working for the priests and took great pride in helping to make the Parish House their home.

After retiring, Marian focused on taking care of her four grandchildren, their dog, “Lucky”, when necessary, and baking for her family.  Her grandchildren meant everything to her.  Marian took ceramics classes for many years and she made and gave away many Santa Claus ceramic decorations over the years.  Marian was also known to bake a wide variety of Christmas Cookies every year, the quality of which was excellent.

Marian is survived by three sons:  Bruce (Nancy) Kinder and Alan Kinder of Aberdeen and Brian (Mary) Kinder of Forest Lake, Minnesota; two sisters, Joan (Arthur) Job of Dayton, Minnesota; Jeanette (Roger) Voit of Albany, Minnesota; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Urbashich of St. Anthony, Minnesota; grandchildren:  Brandon Kinder of Aberdeen, Samantha Kinder of Brookings, Lieutenant Bryce Kinder with the United States Army in Italy, and Brent Kinder of Forest Lake, Minnesota.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Edward, who passed away on Valentine’s Day, 1996; her parents; and her siblings: Celestine (Jerry) Thell, Florentine (Werner) Schneider, John Urbashich Jr. and Theresa Urbashich, who passed away in infancy.
