Margaret G. Weis was born June 9, 1938, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Daniel M. and Christina (Reckers) Weis.  She was raised in Tea, SD, and graduated from Lennox High School.  Following graduation, Margaret attended McKennan Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux Falls before attending and graduating from Presentation College in Aberdeen with her nursing degree in 1959.

Margaret was united in marriage to Jerry George Marnette on August 19, 1961, in Tea.  The couple made their home in Sioux Falls until 1969, when they moved to Aberdeen.  Margaret then began working as a nurse at Avera Mother Joseph Manor.  She was later named Director of Nursing and remained employed with them until 1994, when she retired.  Margaret and Jerry shared over 48 years of marriage and raised six sons before he passed away on January 26, 2010.  In 2011, Margaret became a resident of Avera Mother Joseph Manor and never really quit being a nurse.  Even as a resident, she was always helping out and especially enjoyed leading the rosary for the other residents.

Margaret was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was active in Band 8 of the Altar Society.  She was also an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

Blessed to have shared in Margaret’s life are her sons:  Fred (Kathy) Marnette of Warner, SD, Jim (Kelly) Marnette and Paul (Karen) Marnette, both of Aberdeen, and Phil (Jennifer) Marnette of Glen Burnie, MD; 13 grandchildren:  Leah (Corey) Haaland, Kelsey (Tony) Kulesa, Kacy (Mitchell Waltman), Kayla, John, Jack, Ally, Eric, Ryan, Brianna, Katrina, Haley and Maya; and four great-grandchildren:  Avery, Kayleigh, Kinley and Owen.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; two sons, David and Mike; her parents, six brothers: Orland, Norbert, Romane, Jerome, Cletus and Frank; and one sister, Mary Joerger.
