M. Marjorie "Margie" Eleanor (Aggen) Beckel, 91, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen, with Father Melvin Kuhn, Celebrant. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Aberdeen.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-6:30 p.m., Friday, at the mortuary with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Liturgical Wake Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Saturday.

M. Marjorie "Margie" Eleanor (Aggen) Beckel was born in Aberdeen, SD, on February 7, 1923, to Arno and Ernestine (Redeman) Aggen.

Margie attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central in 1940.

She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth T. Beckel, on September 23, 1943, after he flew his 50 missions in World War II. Kenneth died on May 29, 2001, after nearly 58 years of marriage. To this couple, eight children were born. In addition to being a wife and mother, Margie held a variety of jobs, including Reinhardt Brothers, the Milwaukee Rail Road, and various jobs at St. Luke's Hospital.

Margie enjoyed being with her friends and she was in Band 8 of Sacred Heart Church, The Modern Methods Extension Club, a number of Bridge Clubs, and various other fun activities. She and Kenneth volunteered for various organizations after they retired, mainly at Avera St. Luke's.

Her final year was spent being lovingly cared for by her caregiver and friend, Danielle Myre.

Survivors include her children: Barbara (David) Overland, David (Jean) Beckel, Patricia (Rob) Johnson, Kimberly Washenberger, and Lisa (Norris) Tiensvold, and a combination of 45 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Marjorie McDonald and Mrs. Dorraine Aggen, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; two brothers; and three children: Timothy, Roxana, and Jeffrey.
