Lyle L. Johnsen, 68, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Nicole Martin officiating.
Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Interment with Military Honors will follow the funeral at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
A time for fellowship and luncheon will follow interment at the church hall.

Lyle Leonard Johnsen was born on January 12, 1958, to Lloyd L. and Elizabeth M. (Atanasu) Johnsen in Aberdeen, SD. He was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from high school before enlisting in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he also served honorably.
After completing his military service, Lyle returned to Aberdeen and began working at Mardian's Scrap Metal. On May 30, 1981, he married Connie Behnke in Aberdeen. In December 1992, they welcomed their son, Kent.
Lyle later joined the Aberdeen School District as a custodian. He eventually transferred to Aberdeen Central High School, where he spent many years caring for the school before retiring.
In retirement, Lyle enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, and tending to his vegetable garden, which brought him great pride.
Lyle is survived by his fiancée, Janice Grieben; children from a previous marriage, Billie Hunter and Julie (Steve) Chenoweth; grandchildren, Cameron Hunter, Santasia Hill, Geneva Hill, and Malachi Hill; great-grandchildren Willow Thiel and Ashton Thiel; and siblings Chris (Odo) Langowski and Grace (Myron) Bjerke; Janice's children, Erica Anderson, Hanz Anderson, and Jacob Sippel; and Janice's grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Johnsen; his son, Kent Johnsen; grandson-in-law, Jacob Thiel; his sisters, Flora and Rose; and his brother, Lloyd.
