Loy Wilbur Lowary, 83, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2013, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Father Shane D. Stevens, presiding. A luncheon & time of fellowship immediately follows the service at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.

Interment, with Military Rites, will take place at Groton Union Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Aberdeen Area Humane Society or The Salvation Army.

Loy Wilbur Lowary was born on June 28, 1930, in Aberdeen, SD to William McKinley and Bessie (Farrell) Lowary. Loy attended Aberdeen Central High School.

Loy enlisted in the United States Navy where he completed Fireman Naval training. He received the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals and received his Honorable Discharge as Engineman 3rd Class in April of 1955.

Loy then moved to Bradenton and Sarasota, Florida, where he owned and operated an auto repair business.

Loy completed a commercial flying course through Aberdeen Flying Service in 1957. In addition to having a trucking business, he also flew small planes to livestock auctions.

Loy was a member of the Aberdeen Elks Lodge #1046, V.F.W Post #17, and the Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post #24, all of Aberdeen. He enjoyed attending auto and livestock sale auctions and flea markets. Loy especially loved going fishing with Keith and Donna, and pheasant hunting with Murphy, his buddies, and his children. He will always be remembered for having wintergreen mints for his kids and grandkids.

Surviving Loy are his children: Loy David (Shideh) Lowary of Dallas, TX, Shawn Michael Lowary of Dallas, TX, Shannon (Eric) Lowary-Hubbs of Ostrander, OH, and Casey Thomas (Lisa) Lowary of Dallas, TX; ten grandchildren: Pierce Lowary, Christian Hubbs, Trevyn Hubbs, Sydnye Hubbs, Joshua Hubbs, Breanna Lowary, Travis Lowary, Nicole Lowary, Alexis Lowary and Olivia Lowary; brother, Keith (special buddy, Donna Tichi) Lowary of Aberdeen, SD; sister, Nina Fintel of OR; special niece and nephew, Pam (Tom) Brzezinski and Bill Sauck, both of Aberdeen, and nieces and nephews, Gary, Kim, Todd, Stacy, Sherry, Shannel, Summer, Pam and Bill; former wife, Beverly Lemmers of Omaha, NE; and Loy's coffee group at Marlin's.

Loy's son, Chad Anthony Lowary, parents, and one sister, Lucy Lowary Sauck, preceded him in death.
