Mass of Christian burial for Lloyd "Mac" McBurney, 83, of Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father Michael Griffin as Celebrant.
Burial, with military rites, will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with a Liturgical Wake service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at church on Friday.
Lloyd passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. Blessed be his memory.
Lloyd Sheldon McBurney was born March 8, 1932, to William James and Bernice Bell (Helmka) McBurney at Aberdeen, SD. This is the area where he was raised and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1950.
Mac entered the United States Navy on March 6, 1951, and served his country until March 1, 1955, when he received his Honorable Discharge.
Mac then returned to Aberdeen and was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Lochter at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen on October 3, 1956. Their union was blessed with one son, Steven. The family made Aberdeen their home, where Mac started Mac's Electric on April 15, 1963. He was a member of IAEI for 40 years and also served as President of The Electrical Contractors of South Dakota in 1971. Mac continued owning and managing his business until the time of his death.
Mac was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen, where he served as an usher for over 30 years. He was also active in The Boy's Club.
Blessed to have shared his life are his wife, Pat McBurney and son, Steven McBurney, both of Aberdeen; and brother, Wes (Ann) McBurney, of Woonsocket, RI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Janice, Joseph, Lois, and Margaret.
