Lillian M. Weigel

Mass of Christian burial for Lillian M. Weigel, 71, of Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father Mark Axtmann as celebrant.

Lillian's wishes were to be cremated with burial taking place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign her online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary with a Liturgical Wake Service and Catholic Daughters Rosary taking place at 7:00 p.m.

Lillian passed away Monday, July 13, 2015, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Lillian M. Weigel was born July 22, 1943, to Frank and Barbara (Senger) Weigel in Bismarck, ND. As a young child, she moved to Aberdeen with her family and attended St. Mary's Parochial School. Following graduation from Aberdeen Central High School in 1961, Lillian moved to Minneapolis, where she resided for one year before returning to Aberdeen.

Upon her return, Lillian began what would become a 44-year career working at Avera St. Luke's Hospital before retiring in 2009. She continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.

Lillian was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen where she was active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She was also a member of the Lamps Prayer Group at Avera St. Luke's for many years. Lillian loved sports and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins.

Blessed to have shared in Lillian's life is her sister, Arvilla Rose Ernst of Richmond Lake, SD; one brother, Dennis (Frances) Weigel of Buffalo, NY; one niece, Tanya Jasinski; and seven nephews: Terry Ernst, Tim Ernst, Troy Weigel, Todd Weigel, David Ernst, Rick Ernst, and Timothy Weigel.

Lillian's parents, brother-in-law, Myron Ernst, and nephew, Daniel Ernst, preceded her in death.
