LaVanna Krovoza, 80, of Aberdeen, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2015, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Ave NE, Aberdeen, with Pastor Kevin Bergeson officiating.
Burial will take place at the Ellendale City Cemetery in Ellendale, ND, at a later date. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
No visitation will be held prior to the service.

LaVanna Gerling was born on December 29, 1934, to Otto and Ruby (Peek) Gerling in Ellendale, ND. This is the area where she was raised and attended school. Following graduation from Ellendale High School, LaVanna furthered her education at St. Luke's School of Nursing in Aberdeen.
LaVanna was united in marriage to James Krovoza on August 1, 1958, in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple made their home in Ellendale, ND, where LaVanna was employed with the Ellendale Memorial Hospital for many years until the time of her retirement. In 1987, they moved to Park Rapids, MN and LaVanna continued to work part-time as a nurse's aide. The couple then relocated to Aberdeen in 1994. LaVanna and James raised four children and had just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary before he passed away on August 31, 2011. She continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.
In her spare time, LaVanna enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Grateful to have shared in LaVanna's life are her children: Curt (Terri) Krovoza of Jamestown, ND, Cathryn (Justin) Ellenson of Aberdeen, SD, Carrie (Rick) Scepaniak of Aberdeen, SD and Claudine (Sheldon) Cruse of Gillette, WY; ten grandchildren: Amy, Angela, Ben, Jeremy, Travis, Ryan, Matthew, Tim, Hannah and Marshall; six great-grandchildren: Skye, Cody, Isaiah, Noah, Harmony, and Myles; and one brother, Dr. Max (Petra) Gerling of Alachua, FL.
LaVanna is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Ruby; husband, James; brother, LaVerne Gerling; sister, LaVetta Sand; and infant grandson, Samuel.
