Laurence "Larry" Meehan

Laurence “Larry” Meehan, 74, of Warner, SD, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, in Aberdeen.

Larry’s wishes were to be cremated, and he requested to have no formal services held.  There will be a Celebration of Life and memory sharing at Larry’s Garage in Warner, 12 Southwest 1st Street, Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from 4 PM to close, all who knew Larry are welcome.

Larry Meehan was born December 5, 1947, in Madison, SD to Larry and Anna Meehan.  He attended grade school and high school in Madison and graduated in 1966.  He married Debbie Rhoden on August 1, 1967. They welcomed two boys into their family, Brad and Troy.  Larry proudly served in the National Guard from 1966-1972.  While serving he assisted with the Rapid City flood in June of 1972.  In May of 1974, the family moved to warner, making this their home.  Larry worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 2008.

Larry was a member of the Warner Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Water Board and was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Warner.  Larry enjoyed hunting, traveling to the Black Hills, and visiting his family in Alaska.

Grateful for having shared Larry’s life are his wife Debbie; his two sons: Brad (Jami) Meehan of Rapid City and Troy (Carrie) Meehan of Warner; grandchildren Kristan (Zac) Morris of Aberdeen, Josef, Ella, Lilly Meehan, Jakways Mendoza, and Georgi Mendoza; two great-grandchildren Everly and Ellery Morris; five siblings: Kelly (Paula) Meehan, Maureen (Steve) Lemme, Eileen (Richard) Dey, Erin Meehan, Shari (Nort) Adelman; brother-in-law Steve (Sherry) Rhoden; sister-in-law Mary Meehan; special family friend, Sister Pam Donelan; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Larry and Anna; his sister Sheila; and his brother Mike.
