Casual dress is requested, as we all know Ken would be wearing a NASCAR, Raiders, hunting or “Papa” shirt.

Kenneth B. Engelhart was born in Aberdeen, SD on August 3, 1947, the eighth child born to William and Barbara (Lacher) Engelhart.  He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Aberdeen Central High School.

Ken was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Berget, on June 15, 1966, in Aberdeen.  The couple moved to Seattle, WA, where Ken was employed at Boeing.  While in Seattle, they were blessed with the birth of their first born, Troy.  Ken, Bonnie, and Troy then relocated to Minnesota, where Ken worked at the Ford Motor Company.  While living in Minnesota, they were blessed by the birth of their daughter, Tracy.  The family moved back to Aberdeen in 1970 and Ken found a knack for construction as he worked for Jerke Construction.  He eventually started Engelhart Construction Company with his brother, Tom.  They found their niche building houses and pouring basements.  Ken also spent time working at Al’s Specialties in Aberdeen.  After many years of fighting a good fight, Ken kicked Parkinson’s butt, as it was nowhere to be seen as he kissed Bonnie good-bye and took his final peaceful breaths.

Ken loved his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed drag racing with his son, T.J., NASCAR, hunting, fishing, anything outdoors, McDonald’s, camping with friends and family, playing with his grandsons, and his Raiders football team.

Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Bonnie Engelhart, son, Troy (Amy) Engelhart and daughter, Tracy (Toby) Whittlinger, all of Aberdeen; three grandsons, Terry (Amelia) Whittlinger, Torey Whittlinger and Ty Whittlinger; great-grandsons, Luca and Landen Whittlinger; brothers, Jerry Engelhart and Paul Engelhart; sister, Marie (Craig) Wayne; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and friends.

He was greeted into heaven by so many of his family that were loved and missed every day.

Ken’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of his friends, nurses, and nursing home staff that loved and cared for him through the years.
