Keith Eugene Nash, 89, of Aberdeen, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor Retirement Community in Aberdeen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen, with Father Shane D. Stevens, Celebrant. Burial, with military rites, will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary with a Liturgical Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred by the family.
Keith Eugene Nash was born on June 17, 1925, to Earl and Edith (Hall) Nash in rural Chelsea, SD. He was the oldest of eight children. Their mother passed away when Keith was 11 years old, leaving him responsible for caring for his younger siblings. He attended school in Cresbard, SD, and graduated from Cresbard High School in 1943.
Keith enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in 1952.
Keith was united in marriage to Genevieve Kadlec on June 17, 1953, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ipswich, SD. Their union was blessed with four sons and one daughter. The family made their home in rural Chelsea, where Keith farmed for many years. In 2009, they moved to Aberdeen, where Keith continued to reside until the time of his death.
In his spare time, Keith enjoyed square dancing, working with horses, and restoring old tractors. He was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
Blessed to have shared Keith's life is his wife of 61 years, Genevieve, of Aberdeen; his children: Terry (Vicki) Nash of Aberdeen and children: Shawn (Amy) Nash, Travis Nash, B.J. Nash, Valerie Pullman, Vanessa Rogers and Scott (Angie) Jorgensen, Bryce (Susan) Nash of Cresbard, SD and their daughter, Emily Nash, Curtis (Cheryl) Nash of Mansfield, SD and their children Heather (Randall) Fitzgerald and their daughter, Camryn Fitzgerald and Nathan Nash and fiancAC. Kelsee Ellenbecker, Cheryl (Todd) Ochsner of Aberdeen and their children: Jacob, Matthew, Adam, Erin, and Laura Ochsner, and Kevin (Crystal) Nash of Mansfield, SD and their children, Megan and Austin Nash; two sisters: Isabel Means of Sidney, MT and Mary Crane of Mansfield, SD; one brother, Dale Nash of Groton, SD; and six step great-grandchildren: Morgan, Landon, Harper, Dominic, Ryley and Madelin.
Keith's parents; four brothers: Gordon, Oscar, Orville and Elmer; and one grandson, Joshua Ochsner, preceded him in death.
