Kayla Marie Cunningham was born July 9, 1992, to Todd and Darci (Medenwald) Cunningham in Aberdeen, SD. This is the area where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 2011. Kayla furthered her education at St. Cloud State University and later was accepted into the Radiography Program at the Mayo Clinic. She would have graduated from both programs in 2016 and had planned to enroll in the Radiation Therapy Program to fulfill her dream of helping cancer patients.
Kayla was an avid, life-long camper and enjoyed many outings with her family and friends. She also loved fishing with her dad, spending time outdoors, trapshooting, longboarding, and playing hockey and softball. Kayla's other interests varied from Geocaching and on-line gaming with friends to watching cooking shows, attending concerts, and cheering on her favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. She always looked forward to "Sunday Movie Nights" and especially loved Batman and Disney movies. Above all, Kayla loved having coffee with her mom and spending time with family and friends. Even though she was allergic to dogs, Kayla loved her dogs, Hunter and Shadow, and referred to them as her "furry sisters."
Blessed to have shared in Kayla's life are her parents, Todd and Darci Cunningham and her "furry sisters" Hunter and Shadow; her paternal grandparents, Cal "Bud" and JoAnn Cunningham; and her maternal grandparents, Ken and Ann Medenwald, all of Aberdeen. She will also be greatly missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.
