Kathryn “Kate” W. Cormier was born on February 12, 1946, in Watertown, SD, to Earl and Della (Tacker) Wheatley.

Kate graduated from Watertown High School in 1964 and continued her education at the University of Minnesota, where she earned an associate degree. She spent the early years of her career as a dental assistant, working in Minneapolis and Wahpeton, North Dakota, before moving back to Watertown. Kate became a licensed Dental Hygienist and worked for a local dentist. In Watertown, Kate met the love of her life, Terry Cormier. On June 14, 1971, Kate and Terry were united in marriage.

Kate and Terry moved to Aberdeen in 1981 after he finished grad school and made Aberdeen their lifelong home together. Kate worked for a dentist in Aberdeen for some time before transitioning to a long and successful career in financial consulting. Kate worked as a financial consultant with Raymond James and later served as an LPL for over 35 years.

Faith was central to Kate’s life. She was a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, where she sang in the worship band. Her generous spirit extended to her work with the Salvation Army Board, where she contributed her time and energy to helping those in need. She was also involved in many community memberships.

Kate was an avid fitness enthusiast with a love for the outdoors. She enjoyed working out and cross-country skiing (in which she won several races) and even embarked on a biking trip through Europe in 1986.

Kate is survived by her husband, Terry; sister, Dorothy Blakley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Della Wheatley; one brother; and one sister.
